A mountainous granite landscape. Rocks, polished by time, tell silent stories.

At night, a car winds its way through the curves of the Gardunha Mountains. Inside, a family travels in silence: two adults and two siblings, Leo (10) and Aurora (15), both carrying the weight of a recent past.

The film follows the siblings’ arrival in a remote village in Portugal’s Beira Baixa region, where adapting to their new surroundings proves as difficult as it is mysterious. Unexplained phenomena, fear of the unknown, and emotional isolation merge into an atmosphere of mystery and poetic beauty.

Through the innocent yet unsettling perspective of Leo and Aurora, ECOS explores childhood, loss, and an encounter with the unseen — a cinematic experience that blends the realism of rural Portugal with an almost cosmic and universal sensibility.
